Outside the June to September peak — when the cooler, more comfortable walking weather draws the most visitors — fares into Ayers Rock Airport (AYQ) tend to ease slightly. Shoulder months (April-May, October) are worth comparing closely against peak season.
How far ahead to book
2 to 4 months ahead is a sensible window, given how limited seat capacity into AYQ is compared to a major hub — fares here don't always follow the "book last-minute for a deal" pattern that works elsewhere.

Alice Springs Airport (ASP) has more carrier options and generally lower fares than flying directly into Ayers Rock. From there it's about a 4.5-hour drive to Uluru, or a booked coach transfer or tour package that includes the transfer. For travelers with more time than budget, it's genuinely worth pricing both routes before deciding.
